Delhi Capitals will be very upset with BCCI’s decision of conducting the Mega auction at this moment as they had probably the best squad in the entire tournament. Delhi Capitals had been performing terrifically well in the last few editions of the IPL and with the team now scattered, they will have to build a fresh team and start over again. However they do not have much funds to do that.
Delhi Capitals (DC): Rishabh Pant (16 crore), Axar Patel (9 crore, 12 crore to be deducted from purse), Prithvi Shaw (7.5 crore, 8 crore to be deducted from purse), Anrich Nortje (6.5 crore)
Balance purse: Rs 47.5 crore
Delhi Capitals had a decent retention but ended up having the lowest remaining purse among all the 8 teams which is an instant disadvantage for them. Having less funds means that DC will definitely try to get back their original set of players without being distracted as that is their most tried out setup.

- Shikhar Dhawan – Shikhar Dhawan was the highest run scorer for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 and it was shocking as to why they did not retain him. Whatever be the case, Gabbar is a must have for any IPL team and Delhi Capitals will definitely try to get him back.
- Shimron Hetmyer – Hetmyer is one of the only current West Indian players who has proven himself time and again in the Indian Premier League. He is a big hitter and can be useful to any team in need of a finisher. He has always performed well at Delhi and the franchise will try to regain his services.
- Avesh Khan – Avesh Khan is one of the players who shot to fame only recently. He was terrific in the 2020 and 2021 IPLs and was also one of the highest wicket takers for Delhi Capitals within this period. Alongside Kagiso and Anrich Nortje he makes the DC pace attack simply the best in the tournament and DC will try their best to get him back.
