Rajasthan Royals probably had the smartest retention ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega auctions. They made sure that they retain their best players and also save enough money on their purse to build a great team for the upcoming season in the auction.
Rajasthan Royals (RR): Sanju Samson (14 crore), Jos Buttler (10 crore), Yashasvi Jaiswal (4 crore)
Balance purse: Rs 62 crore
Rajasthan have a gigantic purse of 62 Crore remaining with which they can build a team good enough to be called serious title contenders. However, RR had some good players in their old squad which they could not retain and might try to get back in the mega-auction too. Let us take a look at who those players might be.
- Rahul Tewatia – The Indian all-rounder made quite a name for himself in the 2020 IPL as a finisher after his heroics won Rajasthan Royals the high intensity match against Punjab Kings. He however failed to impress in IPL 2021 but that doesn’t change the fact that he has great potential. Rahul Tewatia is a good spinner as well and Rajasthan Royals will look to get him for cheap in the mega-auction.

- Chris Morris – Rajasthan Royals had bought Chris Morris for record amount in last season’s auction and it is a shame that he could stay at the club for just one season. The problem with Chris Morris’s retention was probably financial and Rajasthan Royals could fix that by buying the all-rounder for a high price in the mega-auction.

- Chetan Sakariya – Chetan Sakariya was undoubtedly the find of the season for Rajasthan Royals. He picked up 14 wickets in 14 matches in IPL 2021 given his young age of just 23. He is one of the rising stars of India and Rajasthan Royals would love to have him back in the squad.
