4 Players that Mumbai Indians can retain ahead of the Mega Auction

The Indian Premier League is already done with and all eyes are currently on the 2021 T20 World Cup. MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings lifted their 4th title this year and they are now just one sort of the mighty Mumbai Indians. Rohit Sharma and his men failed to qualify for even the playoffs this year and the defending champions faring so poorly was kind of a bummer. All the players might focus on the T20 World Cup now but as soon as it gets over, the Franchises will buckle up for the mega auction ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.

It is a known fact that two new teams will be added to the Indian Premier League starting from the next season and due to the same reason, a mega auction will be conducted. Each team will be able to retain 4 of their best players (according to their choices) and they will then build the team upon that.

Mumbai Indians might have an all set up team but the 2021 season exposed their flaws and showed the other teams that they do bleed. The mega auction thus gives them a perfect opportunity to start afresh.

Here are four players that Mumbai Indians might retain ahead of the Mega Auction for IPL 2022 –

1. Rohit Sharma – The captain extraordinaire of the Mumbai Indians who carved their way of winning 4 IPL trophies. He is a must retain for Mumbai Indians and there is not a single iota of doubt that he will be their first retention.

2. Suryakumar Yadav – Undoubtedly the most in-form batsman of the Mumbai Indians roster and they can not risk letting him go. Surely number 2 on the list.

3. Jasprit Bumrah – One of the best bowlers in the world in all the formats. Jasprit Bumrah is Mumbai’s very own boy and they would not let him go to any other team.

4. Ishan Kishan – Ishan Kishan had suffered a dip in form at the start pf last season but he has well regained it now. He has been exceptional in the last few matches of Mumbai Indians and he looks in good form in the practice matches of Team India ahead of the T20 World Cup as well. Controversial take but Mumbai Indians are likely to pick him over Hardik Pandya.
