5 Bowlers Who Never Bowled a No Ball in Cricket

In today’s world with all the technology, the no balls can be caught easily by the third umpires. Bowlers often overstep while bowling. The batting team is not only given an extra run but is also awarded with a free hit which at times can be painful for the fielding team.

Here is a list of five bowlers who have never bowled a ‘No Ball’ in their career across all formats of the game.

1) Ian Botham

One of the greatest all-rounders of all time-Ian Botham has never bowled a no ball in international cricket. Botham was known for swinging the ball and for his aggressive batting skills. He has 27 five wicket hauls to his name in test cricket and has 4 ten wickets’ hauls.

Ian Botham had the capability to single handedly change the game for his side both with the bat and the ball. In the 1981 Ashes series, Botham scalped 39 wickets and scored 399 runs in six tests.

2) Lance Gibbs

West Indies legendary spinner Lance Gibbs is another player to make it to this list. Since making his international debut in 1958 Gibbs has never overstepped in his whole life. Gibbs was the first spinner in the history of the game to pick 300 wickets in tests. Gibbs has played in 79 tests and 3 ODIs for West Indies in his 17 year long career.

Gibbs has a total of 18 five wicket hauls to his name.

3) Kapil Dev

Team India’s World Cup winning cap never bowled a no ball in his career. Kapil has played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs but has never overstepped.

Kapil Dev was a terrific all rounder who used to bat at an explosive strike rate. He also picked up the most of wickets in that decade. Kapil Dev changed the dynamics of Indian cricket when he won the World Cup in 1983 at Lords.

4) Imran Khan

Former Pakistani skipper Imran Khan has played 88 tests and 175 ODIs in his career but has never bowled a no ball. He took his country to glory by winning the 1992 World Cup at the MCG by defeating England in the finals.

Imran Khan has scalped 362 wickets in tests and has over 88 ODI wickets to his name.

After the retirement, Imran Khan went into Politics and is currently the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

5) Dennis Lillee

The Australian fast bowler who has scalped over 350 wickets in test cricket has never bowled a no ball in his career. Dennis Lillee was known for his pace and has therefore suffered several career-threatening injuries. Dennis Lille along with Jeff Thompson has ruled the Australian bowling attack for over a decade.
