The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League, i.e, IPL 2022 is set to kick off in just two days on 26th March 2022 and the excitement for the tournament is immense. Fans and cricket analysts from all around the world have started making their predictions for the upcoming two-month long tournament and famous Cricket analyst Aakash Chopra has now made some of his predictions as well.
Aakash Chopra focused a lot on the Punjab Kings squad and said that Punjab have a very strong squad this season and they are highly likely to qualify for the Top 4 this season. He also predicted that Shikhar Dhawan will be their highest run-scorer and also probably the highest run-scorer of IPL 2022. Thus, according to Aakash Chopra, Shikhar Dhawan will be winning the Orange cap award this season.
He said, “Shikhar Dhawan will be the leading run-scorer for Punjab Kings. There is a possibility that he might win the Orange Cap in the process as well. Rabada will be the leading wicket-taker, he might win the Purple Cap as well.”
The cricketer turned commentator also said that Mayank Agarwal, Liam Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan will be in contention to have the highest strike rate.
“Highest strike rate is a close call between Agarwal, Livingstone, and Shahrukh, but I think it’ll be Livingstone. I think they should finish in the top four, they have the team to do so. They might be the most consistent opening pair. With Bairstow not there for the first couple of matches.”
“Then comes Liam Livingstone and Shahrukh Khan, then Benny Howell at No. 6. Odean Smith, Rahul Chahar, Kagiso Rabada, Sandeep Sharma, and Arshdeep as the bowlers. This team will be even better after Bairstow returns,” he concluded.
