Kolkata Knight Riders have given a fabulous performance in the first match against Chennai Super Kings so far and they are completely dominating the game. After a stellar performance in the first innings with the bat, the KKR batsmen are now showing their mettle. The KKR batsman that has impressed the most in this match, however, is unexpectedly Ajinkya Rahane.
Not even a single IPL fan or even the cricket analysts had predicted that Ajinkya Rahane would do so well against CSK in the first match and his spectacular knock of 44 off 34 was thus very unprecedented.
Rahane showed from the very first ball of the innings that he was in the mood to go rogue against the CSK bowlers and he did just that. Facing Adam Milne in the very third over of the match when KKR had scored only 15 runs, Rahane first scored a spectacular straight-four over the head of the New Zealand bowler on his 3rd delivery. Then on the last delivery of the over, he pulled the ball for a six from over the Deep mid-wicket.
That was when Ajinkya Rahane started scoring big runs and from then there was absolutely no stopping the Indian player.
Ajinkya Rahane had become solely a Test cricketer in the last few years and he was not getting a chance in the IPL or in India’s limited-overs teams for the last couple of years. Now that Rahane has been dropped from India’s Test team as well, it is high time that he shows that he is still a top talent by performing in IPL 2022.
Therefore, IPL 2022 is going to be very important for Ajinkya Rahane.
