Australian player tests Postive! Big threat to IPL 2022

Australian spinner Ashton Agar has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the much anticipated ODI series between Pakistan and Australia which started today at Pakistan’s home turf. The first match is being played today at the Gaddafi Stadium and all the three matches of the series will be played at the same stadium to ensure security and COVID-19 protocols. The second ODI will be played on 31st March and the third ODI will be played on 2nd April.

However, the news of Ashton Agar testing positive is not a positive sign for the series as well as the Indian Premier League. Let us talk about its impact on the ongoing Australia vs Pakistan series first and then we shall talk about its impact on the Indian Premier League.

Well a couple months ago, when India toured to Sri Lanka for their tour and some Indian players tested positive, it had a huge impact on team India and the series as a whole. The series had to be postponed to begin with and then when the matches were played, India did not even have any options to chose their starting XI from and thus they fared very poorly in the series.

A similar impact could be seen on the Australian team in this series as many more players from the Australian squad can test positive.

Now coming to its impact on Indian Premier League, a lot of players who are currently in Australia’s squad are supposed to travel to India soon to join their IPL teams. However with this COVID-19 positive case, they might have to wait further and undergo a double quarantine session which delay their joining even further and that it bad news for the fans and the teams.
