Bhuvneshwar Kumar was trolled heavily after his poor performance in the crucial match against Pakistan. After that match, he was dropped from the playing XI and the one reason that everyone stated for him not being selected in the XI, was lack of pace. But if a bowler can break bats at medium pace, that’s not a bad indication. Is it?
Bhuvi did exactly that in the second T20I between India and New Zealand that was played at the Ranchi stadium. When James Neesham came in to bat in the first innings, Bhuvneshwar Kumar welcomed him with a peach delivery. Jimmy Neesham totally misread it and the ball hit the lower end of the bat, breaking the lower part completely.
Jimmy Neesham had to change his bat but in vain as on the very next delivery, Bhuvneshwar Kumar cleaned him up in exquisite fashion.
Bhuvi has been simply excellent in the first two matches of the T20 series that have been played so far between India and New Zealand. He has marked his comeback and has proved his mettle to the world again. He has made a statement and it says that despite losing pace with age, he has not lost what it takes to shine at the shortest format of the game.
The ensuing IPL season will be an important one for Bhuvneshwar Kumar as it will be his last chance to prove himself. If he does well, he will confirm his place in the Indian team but if he fails to do so, the Blues will have to look for an alternative. But in this series, Bhuvi has shown that he is ready.
