The Asia Cup has been shifted to UAE from Sri Lanka.
The much awaited Asia Cup is all set starts on 27 Aug and the finale will be play on 11 September. It will be a good practice for Asian team to prepare for the T20 World Cup at the Australia which is scheduled from 15 October.
The Asia Cup was all set to be played on Sri Lanka before, but due to economic crises in Sri Lanka the tournament has been shifted from Sri Lanka to UAE.
“Considering the prevailing situation in Sri Lanka, the ACC after extensive deliberation has unanimously concluded that it would be appropriate to relocate the tournament from Sri Lanka to UAE,” a release from the Asian Cricket Council read.
The six teams multinational tournament to be played in 20 over format this year as the preparation of T20 World Cup at the Australia.
The last Asia Cup also held in UAE on 2018 where Rohit Sharma led India to the victory against Bangladesh in the finale. The defending champions India will try their best to defend the title. While teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh can surprise India in the tournament.
With the experience of playing in UAE, Pakistan has an advantage. Also Pakistan performance in UAE has been exceptional. The tournament going to be blockbuster as everyone is waiting for a India-Pakistan match they missed for long time. The last time these two team played in the World Cup at Dubai, where Pakistan beaten India convincingly. India will look for revenge while Pakistan will continue their dream form in the shortest format of the game.
According to the recent form and team combination Pakistan and team India have upper hand . However Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan can be a surprise package.
