Cheteshwar Pujara provides an update on Virat Kohli’s injury

Team India’s middle order batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara on Wednesday provided a major update on Virat Kohli’s injury.

Team India’s full-time skipper in red ball format Virat Kohli missed the ongoing test at Johannesburg due to back spasm. Hanuma Vihari replaced the 33-year-old for the second test. Hence, KL Rahul was named as the captain of team India for the second test.

It is only for the third time in his career that Kohli missed a test match due to an injury.

The fans were disappointed after knowing that the Delhi based cricketer will miss the second test. Cheteshwar Pujara provided an update on Virat Kohli’s injury.

“Officially I cannot reveal anything more but now he (Kohli) is definitely getting better and I feel that he will be fit very soon,” Pujara said during a media interaction.

Pujara added that the exact status of Kohli’s injury would come from the physios.

Stand-in skipper KL Rahul also said during the toss that Kohli will be back for the third test at Cape Town.

If Kohli regains his fitness in time, Hanuma Vihari will have to sit in the bench. In the first innings, Vihari managed to score 20 but was given out on a no ball. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 40 runs.

Cheteshwar Pujara who scored 3 off 33 in the first innings came back in style and scored a fifty in the second innings. Ajinkya Rahane also scored a fifty in the second innings. The two added a crucial 111 runs for the third wicket.

While chasing down the target of 240, the Proteas have managed to put up 118 runs on the board at the cost of two wickets. Skipper Dean Elgar who scored an unbeaten 46 is on the crease along with Van Der Dussen. The home team need 122 runs to win with two days left while team India need 8 wickets to seal the victory at Johannesburg.
