Delhi Capitals might have won the first match of their IPL 2022 campaign but now very sad news awaits them which might as well hinder their chances of lifting their first-ever Indian Premier League trophy this season. In this article, we shall be learning about that news and we shall also discuss how it could affect Delhi Capitals for the rest of the season.
According to the latest news, Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who has been bought by Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2022 Auction for a whopping price of 6.50 Crores was supposed to be one of their main players this season. He gave a sensational performance both with the ball and the bat but now he is under for IPL 2022.
It was already sure that Mitchell Marsh will be missing the first 2 matches of IPL 2022 as he was on National duty in Australia’s ongoing tour of Pakistan and he was in the squad for the Limited overs series. However, the player has now suffered from an injury and the timing of the injury is extremely bad as it might rule him out of the tournament completely.
Mitchell Marsh, who is 30 years old has missed the last two seasons owing to different reasons. Last year he suffered an ankle injury and thus could not feature for the entirety of the season in SRH squad. It now seems like he will be met with the same fate this season as well.
Delhi Capitals have some other overseas options like Mustafizur Rahman and Lungi Ngidi but none of them provides the Batting skills that Mitchell Marsh has. Moreover, Anrich Nortje is injured as well and Mitchell Marsh being added to the injury list is a big blow for the franchises.
