Delhi Capitals Star pacer Anrich Nortje likely to miss entire IPL 2022

Delhi Capitals’ star pacer Anrich Nortje has been suffering from a hip injury for quite some time now. He missed a big portion of IPL 2020 for the same reason and now it seems like the injury is more serious than it was initially appearing to be. And if rumours be true, we have some bad news for Delhi Capitals fans.

According to reports, Anrich Nortje might not be able to play the entire season of IPL 2022. First, he did not feature in the entire series between India and South Africa and that was started raising concerns about his fitness. However, it is unsure whether he will play in the upcoming series between South Africa and Bangaldesh as well. If his conditions continue to worsen, Cricket South Africa might as well not permit him to play in the IPL this season as his fitness is their priority. The 2022 IPL World Cup will be played in the later part of this season and South Africa will want Nortje to gain full fitness by then.

If that is indeed the case, Delhi Capitals might have to start looking for replacements for Anrich Nortje. Well, they already have a South African pacer in Lungi Ngidi who can replace Nortje in the playing XI but he is not that consistent and moreover he has national duty for the first few weeks.

South Africa are currently preparing for their three-match ODI series against Bangaldesh which will be followed by a 2-match Test series.
