New Zealand batsmen Devon Conway takes a superb boundary line catch to remove Mohammad Hafeez. This is surely the contender for the catch of the tournament award. The coin once again flipped in favor of Pakistan skipper Babar Azam at Sharjah as he decides to bowl first yet again. In form Pakistan are facing Kane Williamson’s New Zealand team who are playing the first match of the tournament. Pakistan are coming on to this match after defeating India by 10 wickets at Abu Dhabi last Sunday.

Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell gave a slow start to the innings. Guptill was the first to walk off after managing to score 17 off 20 deliveries. Guptill was removed in the final over of the powerplay by Haris Rauf. Bringing Daryl Mitchell up the order also did not work for the Kiwis as the right-handed batsmen managed to score 27 off 20 deliveries. Just when Devon Conway and skipper Kane Williamson started to keep the scoreboard moving for NZ, Hasan Ali runs Williamson out. This is the 9th time Williamson has been run out in T20Is. The skipper played a run a ball 25. Haris Rauf takes 4 wickets by conceding 22 runs as he restricts New Zealand to 134/8 in 20 overs.

While chasing down the low total of 135, skipper Babar Azam departed quite early in innings as Tim Southee bowls him out in the final over of the powerplay. Fakhar Zaman did not stand in the pitch for long as he scored 11 off 17 deliveries.

Mohammad Hafeez came to bat at No. 4 for Pakistan. This is the first time Pakistan’s middle order is being tested since the start of the World Cup in UAE. Hafeez kicked off his innings with a six off the very first ball he faced. Like most of them, Hafeez does not stay in the pitch for much long. Mitchell Santner removes the experienced player in the final ball of the 11th over. But the credit should go more to the player who got hold of the ball. Hafeez shuffled out to loft the ball over long-off and he looked in decent control until the execution part. The ball flew more off the inside half of the bat to the left of Conway and the Wellington man has plucked it with a full stretch dive towards his left. Convoy takes a breathtaking catch as the crowd stands up to applaud the player. This has to be the best catch of the tournament so far. Mohammad Hafeez makes his way to the pavilion after scoring 11 off 6 deliveries.
