In the latest news, Sri Lanka pacer Dushmantha Chameera has been ruled out of the second and last match of the ongoing test series between India and Sri Lanka. This is a big blow for the Sri Lanka team as he is one of their main bowlers across all the formats. However, he had missed the first Test match for the same reason and Sri Lanka will have to play the second test without him as well.
In the first Test match between India and Sri Lanka which was played at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, the hosts defeated the visitors pretty convincingly by an innings and 222 runs. It was one of India’s biggest victories in the recent past and it will definitely boost their morale a lot.
India suffered a thumping defeat against South Africa on their tour to the African nation and it was a tragic loss given the fact that India are one of the strongest Test teams in the world right now. They needed to boost their confidence as soon as possible and the Sri Lanka series is giving them exactly that opportunity.
Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India have seemingly made a comeback in the longest format of the game and they will look to whitewash Sri Lanka in the next match.
Sri Lanka on the other hand never seemed to have established a proper footing in the match whatsoever. Playing without their main bowler Dushmantha Chameera, they struggled to create any problems for the Indian batters. It has now been announced that Chameera will miss the next match as well.
“Confirmation from Sri Lanka that Dushmantha Chameera will not take part in second Test. The team has been advised by the medical panel to manage him and play him only in white ball cricket until the World Cup. Sense that’s the end of his Test career,” sources said.
