Ex-Chief Selector MSK Prasad wants this India’s star opener to bat at number four

Indian Cricket is going through a changing phase. Where upcoming young stars are rising, also on the other hand the old players are in their final time.

While Shikhar Dhawan back in his old form, former chief selector MSK Prasad believes The Gabbar could be reintroduced as the opener, with Rahul in the middle order at number 4.

KL Rahul is also the IPL 2022’s second-highest run-scorer, trailing only Jos Buttler. KL has scored 451 runs at a remarkable average of 56.37 per game.

KL Rahul is maintaining a very good form in the IPL 2022, and experts believe that he will be a key figure for India at the World Cup later this year in Australia.

However, the form of captain Rohit Sharma and star player Virat Kohli is the main concern. They still need to get back in their best form as soon as possible.

It will be very good to see if Rohit, Rahul, and Virat occupy the top three positions for the team, as the trio failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup in 2021.

“If you’re in shape, these three are a must-have. You can’t possibly leave any of them out for the World T20. But, if I look at the numbers, I might try someone like Shikhar Dhawan at No. 1 and see how Rahul looks at No. 4. He had a T20 century in Manchester a few years ago in the middle-order, so why not? “PTI quoted Prasad as saying.

“But yes, I want Virat to take a significant break, and he should be fresh, up and running before the Asia Cup,” Prasad said in an interview.

In the 2022 T20 World Cup Super 12 stage, India has been grouped with Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh. The tournament will start from mid October in Australia.
