Former CSK star gets recruited as Gujarat Titans’ Net bowler – What a downfall!

Remember Mohit Sharma? Yes, the same guy who won the Purple cap in IPL 2014 and was one of the key bowlers in Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab during his days at those respective clubs. He was one of the first Indian bowlers to introduce a completely reverse arm action to bowl slower ones in T20 Cricket and it gave him a great advantage in the shorter formats of the game. However, life is not often fair and in this article, we have seen what a massive downfall Mohit Sharma has witnessed.

Gujarat Titans recently revealed the names of their net bowlers for IPL 2022 and it included Barinder Sran and senior bowler Mohit Sharma. It was very disheartening news for Mohit Sharma and CSK fans as it was difficult to see how their legendary player who once used to be one of the best bowlers in the IPL had fallen down in recent years. Mohit Sharma and Brainder Sran had both given names in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction but none of the franchises was interested in either of them.

Besides being one of the best IPL bowlers during his days, Mohit Sharma was also an integral part of the Indian contingent. He was a part of India’s 2014 T20 World Cup and 2015 ODI World Cup squad which tells how exactly how good he was.

Mohit Sharma picked up 31 wickets in 26 matches for India in ODIs, 6 wickets in 8 matches in T20Is and 92 wickets in 86 matches in the Indian Premier League.

He is 33 years old and this is definitely not the age to suffer from such a downfall in one’s career. The thing is, like many senior players, Mohit Sharma did not even try to succeed in domestic cricket which further withheld his selection in IPL or the National team.

We hope he makes a comeback very soon.
