Sunrisers Hyderabad has been able to build a very strong squad for IPL 2022 and one of the key elements in their batting order this season is going to be New Zealand’s explosive batsman Glenn Phillips. However, the batsman has not been able to reach the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad for the most unexpected reason and in this article, we shall be discussing that.
New Zealand Cricket has allowed all its players to be available for the full length of IPL and most of their players have already reached the SRH contingent a long time back. However, it is now being learnt that Glen Phillips was held at the airport after having a positive RT-PCR test and thus he is late to join the camp.
“For those who keep asking – I am stuck in New Zealand due to a positive PCR travel test. I will be joining SRH as soon as I can,” he wrote on his Instagram story to let the fans know the reason as to why he has not yet joined the camp.
Thus, as soon as his tests turn negative, Glen Phillips will fly to Mumbai and then after maintaining his Quarantine, he will be able to join his teammates in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad.
Sunrisers Hyderabad bought Glenn Phillips for a decent price of 1.5 Crores in IPL 2022 Auction. SRH’s captain Kane Williamson is also Glenn Phillips’ captain at the New Zealand national team across all formats and thus he knows the best how to handle the player. As a result, we might see Glenn Phillips playing a key role in the SRH setup this season.
Glenn Phillips is a big gym freak and recently he has revealed how the gym has helped him in improving his performance. “Being in the gym has had a lot to do with it [six-hitting]. I’ve definitely put on some weight and started throwing a bit more tin around. At one stage I was sort of doing 800 [press-ups] a day over three sets. I’d do a set of 300, then 300, and 200,” he said.
