Gujarat Titans recruits Priyank Panchal as backup batsman

In the latest news, Gujarat Ranji team captain Priyank Panchal is set to join Gujarat Titans as a backup batsman. Gujarat Titans bought English batsman Jason Roy in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction for 2 Crores but he decided to pull out of the competition. As a result, Gujarat had to sign Afghanistan’s young batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz. However, we never know who gets injured during the long two months of the competition and thus it is usually a smart decision to keep some reserve or replacement batsman ready. Thus, Gujarat Titans recruited Priyank Panchal as their backup batsman.

Gujarat fans are now applauding the Gujarat Titans management for their wise decision. First of all, Priyank Panchal is Gujarat’s Ranji captain and it is a wonderful thing that he has now joined their newly formed IPL team as well. Moreover, the 31-year-old batsman has great potential and is also considered to be one of the best domestic cricket batsmen in India currently. Some also say that he is highly underrated and it is thus nice to see that he is getting some recognition by the Cricket fraternity of India.

Priyank Panchal was just recently also added to India’s Test squad for the South Africa series as a replacement for Rohit Sharma who was out on an injury. Although he did not get the chance to feature in a single match because India performed terribly in the series, it is a big achievement in his career and that day is not far from where he will finally make his debut for India.

Priyank Panchal has scored as many as 7068 runs in 101 first-class matches and has the highest score of 314*. His average is a staggering 45.3 which is considered to be a lot in first-class cricket. He will play for Gujarat Titans in case any of their main players is injured but if he is able to impress the Gujarat Titans management, he might very well get a permanent place in the team.
