The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named India A squad which will tour South Africa. The BCCI on Tuesday also named Team India’s squad for the T20I series against NZ. Harbhajan Singh was not pleased after Mandeep Singh and Sheldon Jackson were ignored for the South Africa series.

Sheldon Jackson is a wicket-keeper batsmen who plays for Saurashtra in domestic cricket. He has scored 221 runs from 5 matches with an average of 73.66 in the ongoing edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He has scored 3 successive fifties in the tournament. Jackson has scored 1461 runs in domestic T20 matches and has 9 fifties and 1 century. He has 5634 runs in 76 first-class matches.

Harbhajan questioned the Indian selectors for repeatedly ignoring the player despite his brilliant performances. Harbhajan questions the need of domestic cricket if talents like this are to be ignored. Jackson has consistently scored runs in the last two Ranji Trophy seasons. But despite his excellent performances the latter has not earned a place in the Indian team.

Harbhajan Singh took it to Twitter and said: “Ranji season 2018/19 scored 854 and 2019/2020 scored 809 and also Ranji champion that year plus this year current form yet not getting picked even for India A team. Can 🇮🇳 selector tell him what else he needs to do to ply for India apart from scoring runs.”

Harbhajan asked the selectors to start watching more of domestic cricket as they ignored Punjab captain Mandeep Singh in the India A squad which will tour South Africa. Harbhajan Singh pointed out Mandeep Singh’s numbers of the 2019-20 edition of Ranji Trophy. Last year the Ranji Trophy did not take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mandeep Singh has an excellent record in Ranji Trophy games and has played for India A in the past. In 78 FC matches, Mandeep has 5316 runs at an average of 47.46. His highest score has been 235 and he has hit 13 centuries and 28 half-centuries.

“Another top player not getting his dues @mandeeps12 forget team India not even in India A. Selectors need to see some domestic matches records or else what’s the point having Ranji seasons. Check his stats last domestic season played. Due to corona no cricket in 20/21 #shocking,” he wrote in another tweet.
