” He is banging the door hard” — Rahul Dravid gives hint about the selection of THIS cricketer for the world cup

The T20 series of South Africa tour to India concluded with both the teams sharing the trophy as the final match ended in a draw. The series ended with 2-2 as the result with the fifth match getting washed away due to rain. Indian stand-in captain Rishabh Pant and South African stand-in captain Keshav Maharaj shared the trophy at the end.

The Indian squad produced many memorable matches in the five match T20 series making a sensational comeback after losing the first couple of matches in the series and winning the next two to equalise the series.

In the post match presentation Indian head coach Rahul Dravid spoke about a cricketer who is knocking very hard on the door of the selectors for the upcoming T20 world cup which is scheduled later this year. Dravid is impressed by the veteran Wicketkeeper batsman’s batting form against the proteas side which left everyone wondering about his selection in the T20 world cup playing 11.

”He was picked for a very specific skill. And it’s nice when that’s kind of indicated in a sense that it came together brilliantly for us in the Rajkot game, where we needed that big performance in the last five overs to be able to make a par score. He and Hardik [Pandya] batted beautifully for us,” Dravid told reporters

”They are probably two of the best in the world in those last five-six overs. So, yeah, it was really nice to see Karthik come off and do what he has been picked to do. It certainly opens up a lot more options for us going forward. Innings like that certainly make you start. Like I was telling the guys it’s not about knocking the door – you have to start banging the door down, and an innings like that certainly means he is knocking very hard,” Dravid added.

Karthik played a crucial knock of 55 runs off 27 balls in the 4th T20 to take India’s score to 169 and helped India to get a comfortable victory. The right hander will now fly to Ireland for the short 2 match T20 series. The T20 world cup is to be played in the month of October- November at Australia.
