Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are currently squaring off against each other in the third match of 2021 T20 World Cup at the famous Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Not even the first innings has been played fully yet and there has already been a heated argument between the two sides. Things started to worsen in the 4th over itself when Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara showed a little too much aggression against Bangladeshi opener Liton Das. The batsman certainly did not appreciate it.
So what exactly happened? On the last delivery of the 4th over, Liton Das played it into the hands of Lahiru Kumara whom he was facing. Das was just a step outside of the crease and Kumara tried to be cheeky. He threw the ball at Liton Das to warn him to stay within his crease. The unnecessary aggression though, clearly got under the skin of the batsman. Afterall if it was a few inches below, the ball would have hit Liton Das’ head.
Unfortunately Liton could not transform it into something positive and he let Kumara get into his head. On the next over of Lahiru Kumara, i.e, in the 6th over, Liton Das gave away his wicket cheaply. Trying to play a lofted shot towards offside, he played it straight into the hands of the fielder at mid-off.
However, what happened next was totally unexpected. When Liton Das was walking towards the dugout, Lahiru Kumara confronted him and seemingly said something to him. It angered the Bangladeshi batsman and led to a heated argument. They ultimately had to be separated by their teammates.
