How much will Rahul Dravid earn as Team India's head coach?

Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid is set to become Team India’s new coach after the ICC T20 World Cup. Ravi Shastri who is currently the head coach of team India will vacate the position after the upcoming ICC event. Shastri will vacate the position as soon as his tenure is over.

According to sources, Dravid was invited to UAE by the BCCI during the business end of IPL 2021 which concluded this Friday with Chennai Super Kings winning the title. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Secretary Jay Shah along with CAC and Apex Council members convinced Dravid took up the role as the coach of the Indian team on a permanent basis. Dravid earlier was not convinced to take up the job citing family reasons and that he was happy working at the National Cricket Academy. However, the appointment and a formal confirmation from BCCI may take some weeks.

As per the sources, Dravid’s contract with BCCI runs till 2023. Dravid will take over the job after the conclusion of the upcoming ICC event. Dravid is presently the head of the National Cricket Academy and will vacate the post after taking over as the head coach of the Indian team. If reports are to be believed Rahul Dravid will be drawing a salary of INR 10 crore annually. This takes him to one of the highest paid Indian coaches. It is to be noted that the current coach of India- Ravi Shastri draws a salary of INR 5.5 crore annually. While Rahul Dravid has been offered almost double the amount Shastri takes.

It is reported that Paras Mhambrey will replace Bharat Arun as the bowling coach while Vikram Rathour will continue to be the batting coach of the Indian team. R Sridhar will continue to be the fielding coach. Paras Mhambrey has worked with Dravid at the U-19 level and also travelled with him for the Sri Lanka series. He was the head coach of the India U-19 cricket team which made it to the final of the 2020 World Cup.
