ICC Announced the Final Date For Teams Re-selection

The 2021 edition of ICC T20 World Cup is just around the corner. The tournament is scheduled to begin from 23 October just after the conclusion of the 2021 edition of IPL. The upcoming ICC event will be played in UAE and Oman. The finals will be played in Dubai on 14 November.

Several teams are releasing their 15-man squad plus 3 reserve players. So far Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa and West Indies have released their squad for the upcoming tournament.

ICC will allow a total of 23 players (15+8) per team to participate in the competition. India were supposed to host the competition but BCCI moved the tournament to UAE and Oman because of the covid-19 pandemic. The tournament will have a total of 16 participants.

The ICC has stated to carry extra player with their squad because of the quarantine rules. However, the ICC will only bear the expenses of 15 players and 8 officials.

“The ICC has also allowed all participating nations to bring additional players with their squads because of the COVID-19 situation and bio-secure bubbles. However, the concerned boards will have to bear the costs of these additional players. The ICC bears the expenses of only 15 players and eight officials,” the official stated.

The official further revealed that teams are allowed to make changes in their squad till 10th October. The ICC will allow the participating teams to make changes five days prior to the start of the quarantine. So, there’s still hope for some surprise last minute inclusions in the squads.

India will lock horns with arch rivals Pakistan on 24 October at The Dubai International Stadium in UAE. The Indian team have currently packed their bags from England and are on their way to UAE for the 2021 edition of IPL.
