Asian Cricket Council has finally confirmed the dates of the much awaited Asia Cup 2022 which is set to take place in the latter of of 2022. Cricket fans across the world are very excited for the tournament as a possible India vs Pakistan mega clash is on the cards.
ACC announced today that the Asia Cup 2022 will be held from August 27 to September 11. Although the schedule has not been confirmed yet, this much is sure that the tournament will be held within the said time frame.
“The Asia Cup 2022 (T20 Format) will be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August – 11 September later this year. The Qualifiers for the same will be played 20 August 2022 onwards,” the ACC tweeted after a detailed meeting.
India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will all take part in the tournament. Sri Lanka was initially supposed to host the 2020 Asia Cup but it was postponed first to 2021 due to COVID -19 and then finally it is now being conducted in 2022.
The sixth team taking part in the tournament will be one between UAE, Kuwait, Singapore and Hong Kong. These 4 teams will be playing a qualifiers round starting from 10th August and the winner will be the sixth team to play in the Asia Cup.
This will be an ideal opportunity for India to take their revenge on Pakistan. Pakistan defeated India in the group stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup and this is the perfect time for India to bounce back.
