India hosted New Zealand to play the first of two match test series at Kanpur. Stand in captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bat first. Shreyas Iyer received his maiden test cap as he debuted in the longest format of the game today.

Mayank Agarwal was dismissed early in the innings as he only managed to score 13 off 28 deliveries. His partner Shubman Gill scored a fifty before being dismissed by Kyle Jamieson.

While the two were in the crease in the sixth over an incident took place. The Indian fans all over of the stadium started chanting anti-Pakistan slogans.

In the first hour of the game the fans tried to boost team India’s confidence by chanting “Jeetega bhai Jeetega, India Jeetega” from the stands. Amid all this, fans also started chanting “Pakistan Murdabad”. The slogans went on for quite a few minutes.

Later the Indian fans were also heard chanting “Bharat Mata ki jai” and “Vande Mataram” to show their patriotic side.

India and Pakistan have not been a part of a bilateral series since 2012. The political tension between the two neighbouring countries have always been high. There have been multiple rounds of firing and unfortunate deaths of many Indian soldiers at the border our nations. After India’s defeat against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, former Pakistani cricketers and fans had a very cheap reaction to this. They also said some mean things and exaggerated the context.
