The 2021 edition of IPL has come to an end after Chennai Super Kings emerged as the champions of the tournament. The tournament was stopped midway due to the covid-19 outbreak in India. The tournament was divided into two legs. The first leg was held in India while the second leg was held in UAE.

There are many players who emerged in this season while some could not. Here is a list of Best playing XI from the 14th edition of IPL.

1. Venkatesh Iyer (KKR)

The Madhya Pradesh all rounder has made a name for himself with his hard-hitting batting skills and useful bowling. Kolkata Knight Riders were keen to pick him up in the 2021 IPL Auctions. Iyer did not fail to impress his franchise. He managed to score 370 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 128.47 which comprised of four 50s.

2. Faf Du Plessis (CSK)

Former South African skipper Faf Du Plessis is one of the most consistent batsmen for Chennai Super Kings. KXIP brought the Proteas batsmen for INR 1.6 Crore but CSK used the RTM card. Du Plessis scored 633 runs in the 2021 edition of IPL in just 16 matches which comprised of six 50s. Du Plessis missed the orange cap by just two runs.

3. KL Rahul (PBKS)

Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul is one of the most consistent performers in the league. PBKS rely on Rahul for his extraordinary performances with the bat. Rahul was brought by Punjab in the 2018 IPL auctions for INR 11 crores. He was named as the captain of the squad in 2020. Rahul won the orange cap in that season with 670 runs in 14 matches. In the 2021 edition of IPL, Rahul managed to score 626 runs in 13 matches which comprised of six 50s. Rahul became the third highest run getter in the league.

4. Glenn Maxwell (RCB)

Australian all rounder Glenn Maxwell had many disappointing seasons before the 2021 edition of IPL. In the 2020 IPL auctions he was brought by PBKS as the second most expensive cricketer. Maxwell did not fail to impress this time. With the bat he managed to score 513 runs in just 15 matches which comprised of six 50s. He also picked up three wickets.

5. Sanju Samson (RR)

Sanju Samson is an Indian international cricketer who captains Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. He made his debut for RR in 2013. Ahead of the 2021 edition of IPL, he was named as the captain of the squad. He scored a century in the first match and becoming the first IPL captain to achieve this feat. Samson managed to score 484 runs in 14 matches which comprised of a century and two half centuries.

6. Rishabh Pant (DC)

Pant is a left-handed wicketkeeper batsman who plays for India in international cricket and captains Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Pant was one of the three players Delhi retained ahead of the IPL auctions in 2018. He scored close to 700 runs but missed out on orange cap. He was named as the skipper of the squad for IPL 2021 after Shreyas Iyer sustained an injury. Pant managed to score 419 runs in 16 matches which comprised of three 50s.

7. Moeen Ali (CSK)

Moeen Ali is an all rounder who plays for England in international cricket and for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Moeen was picked by RCB in the 2018 IPL auctions. However, he was released ahead of the 2021 IPL auctions. He was then brought by CSK. Moeen managed to score 357 runs in 15 matches. He also picked up 6 wickets.

8. Shardul Thakur (CSK)

The right arm medium pacer from Mumbai plays for India in international cricket and for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Thakur was brought for INR 2.6 crore in the IPL auctions. Thakur has managed to pick up 21 wickets in 16 matches. His best bowling figures in the 2021 edition of IPL is 3/28.

9. Harshal Patel (RCB)

Purple cap winner Harshal Patel plays for Haryana in domestic cricket and for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. Harshal is also amongst the 8 net bowlers for the ICC T20 World Cup for India. Patel picked up 32 wickets for RCB in the 2021 edition of IPL at an economy of 8.14. He also picked up a hattrick against Mumbai Indians this season.

10. Jasprit Bumrah (MI)

Jasprit Bumrah has become India’s no.1 bowler across all formats with his unorthodox action. From getting Virat Kohli as his first wicket in IPL, Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as the leading bowlers in the world. He is the key man for Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians. Bumrah has picked up 21 wickets in 16 matches in the 2021 edition of IPL.

11. Avesh Khan (DC)

Avesh Khan plays for Madhya Pradesh in domestic cricket and for Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. After making his IPL debut for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2017, Avesh Khan moved to Delhi Capitals and like the last year, was retained by the franchise for the IPL 2021. Avesh Khan picked up 24 wickets in 16 matches for Delhi Capitals in the 2021 edition of IPL at an economy of 7.37.
