The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings have released their retention list ahead of the deadline on November 30. CSK have retained four players ahead of the mega auctions.

The 2022 edition of IPL will be a 10-team tournament as two new teams-Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been added. Therefore, a mega auction will take place ahead of the season.
Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions, the eight original franchises will retain a maximum of four players. A maximum of three Indian players can be selected (capped or uncapped) and two overseas players can be retained. The franchises will name their players in order of 1,2,3,4. A franchise can also opt to not retain any player.
If a franchise retains four players, INR 42 crore will be deducted from its total salary purse of INR 90 crore. If a franchise retains three players, INR 33 crore will be deducted. While for two retentions it would reduce by INR 24 crore and in case of one retention INR 14 crore would be deducted from the purse.

The first player to be retained by Chennai Super Kings has left everyone shocked. It is all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja was retained for INR 16 crore. Jadeja is one of the greatest all rounders of the world. He has served for CSK since joining the franchise in 2012.
The second player to be retained by CSK is none other than MS Dhoni. Earlier this month, Dhoni made it clear that he wants to play his last T20I match in Chennai.
The third one to be retained by CSK is England’s all-rounder Moeen Ali. It was a tough call to take as CSK had to choose between Moeen Ali and Sam Curran. Ali has been retained for INR 8 crore.
The final player to be retained by CSK is none other than opener Ruturaj Gaikwad who enjoyed a stellar form last season. Gaikwad received the orange cap as he scored 635 runs in the tournament.
Chennai Super Kings now have INR 48 crore remaining in their salary purse which will be utilized in the mega auctions.
