A few days ago when Team India announced that Kuldeep Yadav was being replaced by Axar Patel in India’s squad for the second test match against Sri Lanka, the netizens protested massively as they thought it was unjust for the spin bowler. Kuldeep is never given a chance at the biggest stages nowadays and even without seeing his true form, the management keeps on ignoring him.
The Chinaman is lately finding it difficult to play for any team at all, be it the national team or IPL. After being completely ignored by Kolkata Knight Riders for so many seasons, Kuldeep Yadav has finally been bought by Delhi Capitals for 2 Crores and he finally has some hopes of proving himself again. However, the recent news of him being dropped from India’s squad shocked everyone.
Amid the questions, India’s vice-captain has now revealed the real reason why they replaced Kuldeep Yadav with Axar Patel.
“See, Kuldeep hasn`t been dropped. He was in (the) bio-bubble for a very long time and didn’t get the opportunity to go home. Since his possibility of playing the second Test was a little less, he has been given rest to have some time with the family before the IPL,” Bumrah said
“The Player`s well-being is also very important because staying in the bubble is not so easy. Obviously, every player wants to play every game but the mental aspect is also important and whenever Kuldeep will get an opportunity, he will try to do his best. But at this point of time, the decision to give him rest was taken keeping in mind the two-month-long IPL, where he will be away from his family.”
“Axar Patel has added a lot of value whenever he has played, he offers a lot with the bat, ball, and the field. He was injured but he jumps straight back in when he’s fit. We`ll discuss our combination but of course, he’s valuable,” he concluded.
