New Zealand have qualified for the finals after a thrilling neck-to-neck semi final battle with arch rivals England and they have completed the revenge of their defeat in the 2019 ODI World Cup.
However, now that the match is done with, an old video from the 2019 World Cup final has resurfaced and it has an uncanny resemblance with an incident that occurred in today’s match.
So what is this video about? In the ODI World Cup 2019 final, New Zealand pacer Trent Boult had made an immaculate boundary line save which was caught by his teammate. But a check showed that Boult’s feet had touched the boundary line and it was given as a six. That proved to be too costly for New Zealand as they lost by rule of more boundaries hit.
In today’s match, however, the exact opposite happened, i,e, the decision went in New Zealand’s favour. Jimmy Neesham hit a huge shot off Chris Jordan in the 17th over and Jonny Bairstow made a boundary line save.
It was caught by Chris Woaked inside the boundary line and the English players started to rejoice. However, it was then that a check showed that Jonny Bairstow had crossed the boundary and his legs touched the rope.
Jimmy Neesham went on to hit 23 runs in that over and changed the game completely. It was Daryl Mitchell who then finished the match in style for New Zealand.
