Kumar Sangakkara points out Ashwin’s shortcomings: Fans are shocked!

Director of cricket, Kumar Sangakkara wants veteran cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin to push himself more in the upcoming seasons of The Indian Premier League. The 35 year old was earlier bought by Rajasthan Royals in the auction after being released by Delhi Capitals before the auction. The off-spinner took 12 wickets for the Royals in 17 matches, with the best figures of 3/17 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

During the post-match press conference after IPL 2022 final, Kumar Sangakkara said, “Ash (Ashwin) has done a great job for us. Even for Ash, being a legend in terms of what he has achieved on the cricketing pitch, there will be a lot of improvements and thinking to do, especially with his off-spin and bowl more of it.”

The IPL 2022 witnessed some good cricket among 10 teams, 2 of them got added just before this season. The debutant teams performed really well and outshined the other champion teams to take a place in the playoffs. Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Supergiants got introduced as the two new teams this season.

After a campaign of 2 months IPL got its new winner with Gujarat Titans taking it from Rajasthan Royals in the finals. The IPL final took place in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. In this match Ravichandran Ashwin as an X factor for RR couldn’t do much help on being sent to bat no. 6. The right arm off spinner also remained wicketless conceding 32 runs in 3 overs.

Gujarat Titans defeated Rajasthan to win their first IPL trophy in their debut season. Their consistent performance remains the result for their success in front of their home crowd in Ahmedabad. In the IPL 2022 final, RR after winning the toss, opted to have a bat first. However, some tremendous bowling from GT bowlers restricted RR to a score of just 130 runs in their 20 overs. Mohammed Shami, Dayal, Rashid, Hardik, and Sai Kishore were the wicket-takers for the new entrants. Hardik Pandya as a captain led the team from the front taking 3 wickets by just giving 17 runs in his 4 overs. In reply, GT went on to chase the target easily with seven wickets in hand.
