Lucknow Super Giants have finally confirmed that they have signed Australian pacer Andrew Tye as the replacement for English all-rounder Mark Wood who has been ruled out of IPL 2022. Lot of confusion has been created regarding the replacement of Mark Wood as it has now been changed twice.
At first, LSG had decided to sign Bangladeshi bowler Taskin Ahmed but later they changed him with Blessing Muzarabani. However, it is now being said that Blessing Muzarabani had been appointed as their net bowler and not the main team bowler. Instead, Lucknow has now signed Andrew Tye as the replacement of Mark Wood.
Lucknow Super Giants had signed Mark Wood for a whopping price of 7.5 Crores in the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. They trusted him a lot to be one of their main foreign players in the bowling unit but recently he suffered a very serious injury during the ongoing test series between West Indies and England. The injury ruled him out of the entire season of IPL 2022 and thus LSG had to look for a replacement player.
Andrew Tye is probably the best replacement for Mark Wood and it is a spectacular decision by Lucknow Super Giants. Andrew Tye won the purple cap award for Kings XI Punjab back in 2018.
However, after that year, he went into a tussle with the Punjab management and he was removed from the team the very next year. He was signed by Rajasthan Royals after a few years but he failed to impress for them.
He has now gotten a golden opportunity to prove his worth in IPL 2022 with Lucknow Super Giants and he can turn out to be a great asset for them.
