The 2022 edition of IPL will be a 10-team affair with the addition of two new franchise-Lucknow and Ahmedabad.
Sanjiv Goenka’s RPSG Group who were earlier the owners of Rising Pune Supergiants have acquired the rights of the new Lucknow franchise for a whooping bid of INR 7090 crore.
On the other hand, CVC Capitals have won the bid for Ahmedabad franchise for INR 5625 crore.
A day ago, Rising Pune Supergiants changed the name of their official Instagram handle to the new Lucknow franchise.
The new Lucknow franchise has taken over all the social media handles of now defunct Rising Pune Supergiants team which was owned by RPSG Group.

Therefore, the franchise on Tuesday asked its fans to name the franchise. It is happening for the first time in the IPL that the fans have the sole right to choose the name of the team.
The franchise took it to Twitter to make the announcement. They captioned the post as, “IPL mein kuch naya ho raha hai. Stay tuned for more!”
The team has already started appointing its coaching staffs. They have appointed former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower as their Head Coach along with Gautam Gambhir as their mentor. Vijay Dahiya will be the assistant coach of the team.
