Today was overall a bad day for Mumbai Indians that all the players of the team, and especially captain Rohit Sharma would definitely like to forget. First, they lost their first match of IPL 2022 against Delhi Capitals from a winning position and now, another bad news awaits Rohit Sharma and the Mumbai Indians fans.
According to recent revelations, Rohit Sharma has been fined a whopping fine of Rs 12 Lakhs for a slow over-rate against Delhi Capitals in their first match of IPL 2022. According to Umpires, the second innings took way too long to be completed and thus they had to complain to the authorities following the match after which Rohit Sharma has been levied this fine of 12 lakh rupees.
Well, it was pretty understandable given the fact that Rohit Sharma had to change his fielding a lot and he had to make a lot of thorough decisions near the end of the second innings because of Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel had gone completely rogue and they were obliterating the Mumbai Indians bowlers.
Some fans of Mumbai Indians believe that Rohit Sharma’s captaincy is to be blamed for their loss against Delhi Capitals today. Rohit sent in Daniel Sams to bowl the 18th overs in which he conceded as many as 24 runs and that was game over for Mumbai Indians as DC needed only 4 more runs to win the match which they did with an over and 4 balls to remain.
Ishan Kishan was Mumbai’s best performer today. He played an unbeaten knock of 81 off 48 and made sure that Mumbai Indians reached a respectable target. As sad as this loss might look like, MI have a habit of losing their first matches of the IPL and so the fans have nothing to worry about yet.
