Mitchell Starc’s Yorker against Kusal Perera reminds fans of Ben Stokes’ dismissal in WC2019

When Mitchell Starc is at his very best form, he can make you pay for your mistakes with a single delivery. He has been doing the exact same things for over 6 years now and he proved once again in tonight’s match between Australia and Sri Lanka that he has still got it in him. The Australian pace king bamboozled Sri Lankan batsman Kusal Perera with an absolute peach delivery and netizens had all the reasons to go bonkers about it and boy did they do so.

In the match between Sri Lanka and Australia that took place tonight at the Dubai International Stadium, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. A smart move given the fact that Sri Lanka’s bowling unit has been absolutely awesome so far in the competition. Australia were quick to pick up their first wicket as Pat Cummins sent off Pathum Nissanka for just 7 runs. Sri Lankan captain Kusal Perera possessed the greatest threat among the Sri Lankan batsmen and Aaron Finch sent his best man, Mitchell Starc, to get the job done. And he did so in elegant fashion. On the second delivery of the 11th over, Mitchell Starc split apart Perera’s wickets with a perfect yorker edging past the middle stump. A Peach delivery as we call it !

It is in fact the mirror image of a particular delivery by Mitchell Starc that clean bowled Ben Stokes in the T20 World Cup. A video of the same has resurfaced on the internet and fans are sharing it like crazy.

Sri Lanka went on to put up a decent total of 154 runs on the scoreboard and given the poor form of the Australian batsmen, it was looking like a good enough total for Sri Lanka. But unfortunately for them, Australia’s out of form batsman David Warner wrought havoc and this might be his return to form. Warner scored an incredible knock of 65 off 42 and gave Australia just the start they needed. It was a clean sweep from there and they won the match by 7 wickets with 3 overs in hand.
