Nothing is going in Mumbai Indians’ favour lately. Firstly they have not yet won a single match in IPL 2022 and thus they are seated at the very bottom of the table with 0 points which is humiliating enough for tje 5-times champions. They suffered yet another very disappointing loss in tonight’s match between them and Punjab Kings and they will regret this loss for days to come as this might have been their turning point in this season. However, they missed that opportunity.
Mumbai Indians were clearly the favourites to win the match tonight after the kind of start they received. The high target of 199 looked intimidating at first but the way Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma were playing, they made it look too simple. However, after their departure, none of the other batters was able to keep up the temperament and they all had to go back to the pavilion one after the other.
As a result Mumbai Indians could score only 186 runa at the end of 20 overs and they fell short of 12 runs and thus lost the match.
However, that was not the end of all the bad news for Mumbai Indians. For the second time this season they have been fined with slow over rate in this match and as a fine captain Rohit Sharma has been fined 25 lakh rupees while all the other 10 players have been fined with 6 lakh rupees each or 25% of Match fees whichever is lower. It is thus a double blow to Mumbai Indians.
