Legendary batsman Ricky Ponting is busy giving his insights and analysis in the ongoing 2021/22 Ashes series as a commentator. One of his particular analysis during the second test impressed the veteran Indian off-spinner.

Ponting correctly predicted the tactics the English players will use in order to dismiss Cameron Green. The former Aussie player spoke about his stance and clarified that he was trying to save himself from LBW. He added that the English bowlers would bowl full length delivery in order to target his stumps.

His words were proven right in the 112th over of the game when Green was facing Ben Stokes. Stokes proved Ponting right in the very next delivery as the ball kissed the off-stumps and send him towards the pavilion after scoring two off five deliveries.

“A very distinct change of tactics now for Cam Green. They’ll be a lot fuller and lot straighter, they’ll target his stumps. He sets up with a very open front foot, that is generally a sign of someone worried about getting LBW and does not want their front foot too far across in the line of the stumps,” Ponting said while commentating for 7Cricket.

The video of the same has gone viral in the net and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin reacted to it. Ashwin has previously worked under Ponting at Delhi Capitals in the IPL. He retweeted the video through his official twitter handle and captioned it as, “Cricket Literacy Rate✈️✈️”.

The Indian spinner is known for having one of the sharpest brains in the Indian dressing room. Ashwin also had the opportunity to read his brain during his stint with Delhi Capitals.

Talking about the second Ashes 2021/22 test, Australia declared the innings after scoring 473/9 on Day 2. They then dismissed both the English openers. The day ended on 17/2.
