Ravichandran Ashwin clocks 131KMPH speed in Qualifier 1: Mohammad Kaif praised him

IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans took on Rajasthan Royals in the qualifiers 1 which took place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on 24th May, Tuesday. The former won the toss and elected to bowl first. Rajasthan Royals batting first got a slow start but later changed their gears and took the score up to 188/6 with the help of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson’s knock.

Chasing down the target Gujarat Titans lost the first wicket early. But still a flying start was given by Shubman Gill and Mathew Wade. Though the match winning partnership of Hardik Pandya and David Miller won the match for Gujarat Titans. They both set a partnership of 106 runs for the 5th wicket and also finished the match taking the team over the victory line.

In the same match what got most popular was Ravi Ashwin’s 131kmph delivery. In the 8th over Ashwin came into the attack. The third ball he bowled was to Shubman Gill of which the speed gun detected the ball to be at 131 kmph speed. Later the officials said that there was some glitch due to which it was shown that the ball wasn’t that fast.

Seeing the speed on the screen, former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif applauded the off spinner on twitter by saying “Dear Ashwin, is there anything in cricket you can’t do? Master spinner, impact batsman, time to start bowling at 150 kph. You are a champion all-rounder. @ashwinravi99” unaware of the glitch.

Gujarat Titans later won the match with three balls left after a wonderful finish from David Miller and emerged towards the finals. Rajasthan Royals would now play the qualifier 2 with the winner of eliminator 1.
