Ricky Ponting makes a big statement on Rahul Dravid’s captaincy

Former Team India player Rahul Dravid has been just recently appointed as the new head coach of Team India and it is a dream come true for him and the Indian fans as well. Indian Cricket fans had been waiting for this moment for years now as Rahul Dravid is an excellent coach which has been proved in his previous services at NCA and India U19 and his coaching mastery is now required at India to charge up the team once again. However, one particular man is not happy or rather shocked at Rahul Dravid’s appointment as Team India’s head coach.

The man in concern is Delhi Capitals head coach and former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. In a conversation with a particular podcast, the Delhi Capitals coach said that he infact had an offer for the job of Team India’s head coach from BCCI and he rejected the offer for personal reasons.

“The People I spoke to were very keen to find a way to make it work, but the first thing I said, ‘I can’t give that much of time’. That means, I can’t coach in the IPL,” Ricky Ponting said.

Speaking as to why he is surprised by Rahul Dravid taking up the job, Ricky Ponting said, “I’m very surprised that Dravid has taken this job. I’m not sure about his family life but I’m sure he has young kids. So I’m surprised that he took it but as I said, the people I spoke to were sure they got the right person so they were probably able to get Dravid to do it.”

Ricky Ponting hinted that he probably rejected the job because he did not want to take up such a demanding role.
