“Running away from Jasprit after getting the MOTM Award in last game”, Virat Kohli sledges Dean Elgar

Virat Kohli and Dean Elgar

Indian skipper Virat Kohli gets involved in a heated argument with Dean Elgar when the two of them were taking too much time for discussion between the overs.

We have seen a lot of on-field battles in the three match test series against South Africa. The series is currently level at 1-1 with the third and the final match being played in Cape Town. This is a very important game for team India as they have never registered a series win in the Rainbow Nation.

In the final innings on Day 3, Virat Kohli was involved in a verbal argument with opponent skipper Dean Elgar. In between the overs, Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen were wasting a lot of time in discussion.

Captain Kohli did not take much time in sledging the left handed batsmen. He said that the southpaw is afraid to face Jasprit Bumrah.

“Unbelievable. Just after a Man of the Match performance in the last game, running away from Jasprit. Chirping for 13 years Dean, you are going to keep me quiet,” Kohli was heard saying this to Dean Elgar on the stump mic.

Kohli also recalled the Johannesburg test in 2018 when team India registered a 63 run win against the Proteas. Dean Elgar at that time remained unbeaten after scoring 89 runs.

“We all know who wanted the Johannesburg Test to get called off in 2018,” the Indian skipper said to Elgar.

After taking a 13 run lead in the first innings, Team India were bundled out for 198 in the second innings. Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 100 run innings helped the visitors post a target of 212 in front of the home team.

At stumps on Day 3, South Africa have scored 101 runs at the cost of both the openers. The Proteas need another 111 runs to win the match and the series while the Men in Blue need another 8 wickets to take the trophy back home for the first time.
