Shahrukh Khan hits a last ball six to win the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Tamil Nadu

The Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021-22 had a thrilling end that nobody had expected. So much so that it can easily top the list of the most intriguing matches of the cricketing season and that too after being just a domestic tournament of India.

Karnataka and Tamil Nadu squared off against each other in the final of the ongoing segment of the tournament and it was expected to be a fiery duel all along. The final lived up to the expectations as the very last delivery decided the winner of the match.

Tamil Nadu were the deafening champions of the tournament but Karnataka were the downright favourites this season. They had even won the match but Shahrukh Khan of Tamil Nadu changed things up in the very last delivery of the match.

Tamil Nadu won the toss and opted to field first. They got an excellent start as Karnataka opener Rohan Kadam departed for a duck. Their middle order, including veteran players like Captain Manish Pandey and Karun Nair, failed to perform and they were struggling against Tamil Nadu’s sensational bowling attack. The 46 off 37 knock of Abhinav Mohan finally gave some stability to Karnataka’s innings and they managed a total of 151/7 in 20 overs.

Coming on to chase, Tamil Nadu got a great start thanks to their openers, but their middle order increased the required run rate by a lot. So much so that they need 5 runs to win off the last delivery.

Tamil Nadu’s Shahrukh Khan, who also plays for Punjab Kings in IPL, was facing experienced bowler Prateek Jain. To everybody’s surprise, the all-rounder hit a gigantic six and won the match and the tournament for Tamil Nadu in the most dramatic manner.
