Mumbai Indians have had a horrible start to their IPL 2022 campaign. Only 6 matches have been played so far and the Rohit Sharma led team has already almost theoretically been ruled out of qualifying for the playoffs this season as they have zero points so far and have not been able to register ever a win so far.
There have been some decent individual performers for the franchise so far in IPL 2022 but they have not at all been able to perform together as a team and this is a matter of concern for Mumbai Indians.
It is not so that Mumbai Indians do not have a good squad. In fact, they have the costliest player of IPL 2022 Ishan Kishan. The franchise bought back their former man in IPL 2022 for a record breaking price of 15.25 Crores.
However, Shane Watson has now opened up on MI’s poor performances and he said that Ishan Kishan is not worth the amount that was spent on him.
“It hasn’t surprised me that MI are at the bottom of the table because they had a shocking auction. Spending so much money on Ishan Kishan… He is a very talented and skilful player, but he’s not worth blowing nearly your whole salary on,” Shane Watson said on the Grade Cricketer podcast.
“And then, going for Jofra Archer, not knowing whether he is going to come back in. He hasn’t played cricket for quite a while. They have got quite a few holes in the team,” the former Team Australia player said.
