Though there was a time when the former RR skipper Shane Warne threatened to leave Rajasthan Royals. He also wanted to return back the money. In his autobiography he mentioned about the 10-day camp was organized before IPL 2008. Ravindra Jadeja and Swapnil Asnodkar had a lot of influence in leading the team and Warne in that camp. The arguments went so far that the leg spinner decided to return back the money and leave the franchise.

Warne has written in his autobiography: ‘If I included Asif in the team, I would understand that a player who was not even that capable and he is also in the team. It simply means that a particular player is being favored. If you want Asif in the team, that’s fine, I’ll pay you back and I won’t be a part of Rajasthan. On this, Manoj, the owner of RR, said, are you serious, in response to which I said a lot, let me stick to this decision.

Even after this Badale insisted Warne on considering him. On this, Warne clarified that the bench is too small for everyone. In such a situation, Warne did not want Asif to sit there because it would appear that he is being favored.
