Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan receives prestigious Arjuna Award from President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday at The Rashtrapati Bhawan.

Dhawan was among the 35 other athletes to win the award on Saturday. Along with Dhawan, Indian-para-athletes who won the medals in Tokyo Paralympics 2020 also received the prestigious award. The Indian hockey team which won the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics also won the award.
12 other athletes were awarded the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna by the President including Olympic Gold Medallist Neeraj Chopra and Women cricketer Mithali Raj.

Indian men hockey team skipper Manpreet Singh and Goalkeeper Sreejesh were among those who received the Khel Ratna award too. Olympic medallists Ravi Kumar and Lovlina Borgohain also received the honour along with football legend Sunil Chhetri.
Shikhar Dhawan has been in the Indian team for over a decade now. However, Dhawan was not a part of the team which was knocked out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE. The 35-year-old has represented India in all three formats of the game. He has played 34 tests, 145 ODIs and 67 T20Is and has scored 2315, 6105 and 1759 runs respectively. Shikhar also has 17 ODI centuries and 7 test centuries to his name.
Although Dhawan is an all-format player but he has played his last in 2018. He is no longer a part of the tests and t20 squad.
