Shoaib Malik consoled Hasan Ali after he dropped Matthew Wade’s catch

Pakistan’s Hasan Ali is facing a huge number of trolls and banters ever since Pakistan lost their semi-final match against Australia tonight because it was a silly catch drop by the Pakistani pacer that led to all this. Hasan Ali had got the golden opportunity to dismiss Australia’s in-form batsman Matthew Wade in the 3rd delivery of the 19th over. It was a simple catch that was dropped by the Pakistani and he paid the price of it very soon. On the next 3 ball, Matthew Wade hit 3 consecutive sixes and won the match for Australia. Had the catch been taken though, the fate of tonight’s match would have been changed completely.

Amidst all the hate that Hasan Ali is getting because of his catch-drop, a pleasing video of the match has now gone viral. In the video, Shoaib Malik can be seen going up to Hasan Ali and making sure that he was alright. He lifted Ali’s morale which was much appreciated by the audience. However, that was before Shaheen Afridi conceded 3 sixes in a row and it was all over.

However, keeping in mind that the spirit of the game is much more important than the result itself, some of the Pakistani fans have still shown their support for Hasan Ali and they have applauded Malik for his kind gesture.

The unfortunate fact is that this is the best shot that Pakistan had got to an ICC title win in a long time. They had won the T20 World Cup back in 2009 and this would have been a brilliant opportunity for them to bounce back. Having defeated India in their first match, Pakistan had a great momentum and it is indeed sad that they could not realize their dreams this year.
