The abandonment of the tournament meaned that Bangladesh, West Indies and Pakistan are the remaining three countries which travel to New Zealand for the ICC ODI World Cup next year owing to ICC rankings. They will be joined by New Zealand, Australia, England, India, and South Africa.

India are scheduled to tour South Africa to play three T20Is, three ODIs and four tests. The series is scheduled to start from December 17. The senior team players are scheduled to fly on December 8. The BCCI will now need special permission from the government to tour the African country.

“We are in constant touch with Cricket South Africa, while continuously monitoring the situation over there. The health and safety of the cricketers are paramount and we will act accordingly. Health Ministry’s directive is supreme. If we get any advisory in this regard, we will certainly follow that,” BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said on Saturday.
