Former team India star and current NCA director Rahul Dravid has officially applied for the position of Team India’s head coach according to ANI. Current Team India coach Ravi Shastri had announced a long time back that he will be stepping down from his position once the T20 World Cup was over and ever since, the question as to who will take over his duties, was being asked by cricket fans all over the nation.
Rahul Dravid has been an option for many a years now but on being asked, the former Indian cricketer had always played down the chances of him becoming Team India’s coach anytime soon. His target has always been to focus on the development of young talents of India and that is what he was doing. But due to the lack of other good options, the BCCI was pushing Dravid to rethink his decision. Afterall it was just a matter of time. Everyone knew that Rahul Dravid would become team India’s coach at some point in the near future, so why not now? After much consideration and due to the pressure of the BCCI, Rahul Dravid has seemingly made up his mind finally and he is now ready for the job.
According to ANI, he has put forward a formal/official application to the BCCI, stating his intent to manage The Indian National Cricket team.
If the rumours be true, the official announcement of BCCi will be made anytime soon and VVS Laxman, another former Indian cricketer who had shown interest for the position, will be made the director of NCA (National Cricket Academy), to fill up Rahul Dravid’s spot.
