Star Mumbai Indians player gets injured ahead of IPL 2022

The much awaited IPL 2022 is set to kick off on 26th March with KKR and CSK set to face off against each other in the first match of the season at the Wankhede stadium. The second match will be played between the finalists of IPL 2020, i.e, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

It will be a difficult match for Mumbai Indians as Delhi Capitals have undoubtedly the best squad in IPL 2022. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have lost a big amount of their firepower with the likes of Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock and Hardik Pandya leaving the team.

However, the core team of Mumbai Indians which comprises of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Kieron Pollard is intact and it is these players who will have to perform very well if Mumbai Indians want to achieve anything miraculous this season.

Sadly, the five time champions have suffered a big blow already ahead of their camp as Suryakumar Yadav is still recovering a hairline fracture in his thumb. Although it is a small fracture and the player is likely to miss out on only one match, Mumbai Indians should not hurry the process as it might lead to his condition deteriorating.

A reliable source said about the Sky’s injury: “I think by the second MI game, he would be 100 per cent match fit. It is likely to be more of a precautionary measure if he doesn’t play the first game.”

It is almost sure that Sky will be missing the match against Delhi Capitals at least and it is a big blow to MI as they will have to take on the best team in IPL 2022 without one of their main team batters.
