In the latest news, Pakistan bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has tested positive for COVID-19 and has thus been ruled out of the second match of their ongoing Test series against Australia.
Faheem Ashraf is a part of Pakistan’s test squad for the ongoing Australia series. However, he did not get a chance to feature in Pakistan’s playing XI in the first test. Pakistan already has some great all-rounders and thus Faheem Ashraf would find it difficult to cement his spot in the main team.
In the second match too, his chances of playing were very less and thus, Pakistan will expectedly not be affected much with him being ruled out. However, he was a nice backup option and if now anything goes wrong with the Main players of Pakistan, they will be finding it difficult to search for an alternative batter.
The first test between Pakistan and Australia ended in a draw. Batting first, Pakistan scored 476/4 (declared) which was met by equally great first innings by Australia wherein they scored 459 runs. In their second innings, Australia scored 252 runs and the match was over due to the end of 5 days of play.
However, it is now being considered one of the most boring Test matches of all time as the bowlers had nothing to prove on this pitch. Even after 5 days of continuous action of cricket, not even 3 full innings could be played. The second test will be starting on 12th March and it will be played at the Karachi National Stadium. We expect the pitch in that match to be much better.
