Life is very unpredictable and we never know what it throws in our way on a day to day basis. We got yet another example of that in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League, i.e, IPL 2022. Dhawal Kulkarni, who is an India fast bowler and is just 33-years old is currently a part of the Commentary team of IPL 2022 and yesterday he was seen commentating for the match between RCB and KKR.
Dhawal Kulkarni has been an underappreciated player almost throughout his life. He spent a majority of his IPL career playing for Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Lions (the team who played in the IPL for only 2 years) and he was one of the best powerplay specialist Indian bowlers in the Indian Premier League during his peak years.
However, with the arrival of various young talents, Dhawal Kulkarni started to be sidelined by all the teams and the situation has become so bad now that he went unsold in the IPL 2022 Mewga Auction. Dhawal Kulkarni had registered himself for the IPL 2022 Mega Auction and had set a base price of 75 lakhs for himself. However, even then, not even a single team bid for him and he went unsold.
A few days earlier when the teams were looking for replacement bowlers as a number of players were set to miss the Indian Premier League 22 owing to injuries and some other reasons, Dhawal Kulkari had come up as one of the favourites to replace Deepak Chahar in the Chennai Super Kings squad. However, it was later revealed the Chahar would be able to play for CSK from the second half and thus Dhawal Kulkarni’s dreams of making a comeback in IPL 2022 went were over.
He is currently a part of Star Sports’ commentary panel for IPL 2022 in both Hindi and English languages.
