We have a very good news for all IPL and cricket fans across the globe. Cricket sensations Ravi Shastri and Suresh Raina will be joining the Star Sports Commentary panel for this upcoming IPL seasons and fans could not be more excited upon hearing this news.
Suresh Raina has been one of the most entertaining and best players in the Indian Premier League since season 1 but sadly he went unsold in the Mega Auction of IPL 2022. In fact, he was not even selected as a replacement for any player after some players pulled out of IPL due to various reasons. This will be Suresh Raina’s first season not featuring in the Indian Premier League. End of an era indeed.
As for Ravi Shastri, he was a very able commentator before pursuing his career as a head coach. After retiring from his cricket career, he took up English commentary and became one of the most popular voices in cricket. Infact, the famous ‘Dhoni finishes off in style’ line after MS Dhoni won the World Cup for India by hitting a six, was also Ravi Shastri’s line.
However, after that he became the Head coach of the Indian National team in all formats and after a successful span of about 5 years, he finally stepped down from his position.
On popular demand, he has now returned to commentary but he will not be commentating in English this time but rather in English. According to reports, Ravi Shastri is taking Hindi lessons on Zoom to practice commentary.
“You all know that Raina won’t be a part of the IPL this time but we somehow wanted to link him with the tournament. He has a massive fan following and there is a reason why he is known as Mr IPL. As for Shastri, he was part of Star Sports English commentary team. But he didn’t commentate after the final of Champions Trophy in 2017 as he became India’s head coach,” a very reliable source said.
While Ravi Shastri has much experience in the field of Commentary, this will be Suresh Raina’s first time and it will be interesting to see both of them in the commentary panel this season.
